Cedar-Wrapped Porch Columns
Plain porch posts on a gray ranch home wrapped in horizontal clear cedar, finished to bring out the grain against a teal front door.
The problem
Thin steel posts holding up the porch roof made the front of the house look unfinished.
What Luke did
Luke built cedar boxes around each post from clear, kiln-dried stock laid horizontally, mitered at the corners so no end grain shows, and sealed for Colorado sun. New house numbers went on the column by the door.
The result
The whole front elevation reads differently from the street. One weekend of work.
