White Shaker Kitchen with Wood Island and Banquette
Full kitchen remodel with white shaker cabinets, a wood-wrapped island, open shelving, a custom range hood, crown molding and a built-in banquette in the dining nook.
Before and after

Drag to compare. Left is before, right is after.
The problem
A closed-off kitchen with a load-bearing wall between it and the living room, dated cabinets, and a dining area with wasted space under a bank of windows.
What Luke did
Luke opened the wall and wrapped the required support column in wood paneling so it reads as a design choice. New white shaker cabinets were installed and trimmed with crown molding set so no nail holes show. He built floating shelves with under-shelf lighting, a custom wood range hood, and a banquette bench that runs the length of the window wall. Hardwood floors were run through the whole space.
The result
The client’s review names each piece: the cabinets and crown, the floating shelves, the paneling over the beam, the banquette. “All of them turned out beautiful.”
Luke pays a lot of attention to detail and does high-quality carpentry work. He installed our kitchen cabinets and crown molding. He did a wonderful job on the crown molding and installed it in a way we can't see the nail holes. I loved that. He also built us custom floating shelves, paneling over a support beam, and a custom built-in banquette bench. All of them turned out beautiful. He did a wonderful job with the mitered edges. He also worked with us to revise the design of the bench to get the price of it down to a range we could afford when our initial design was out of our budget. He communicated well and showed up when he said he would show up. Overall, I would highly recommend Luke.
