Floating Walnut Window Bench
A single thick walnut slab floated beneath a window as a bench, with no legs and no visible support.
Before and after

Drag to compare. Left is before, right is after.
The problem
A wide, low window with nothing under it. The client wanted a reading seat that looked like a piece of furniture and did not block the baseboard heat.
What Luke did
Luke milled and flattened a walnut slab in the driveway, cut hidden steel supports into the wall framing, and set the bench so it floats a few inches off the floor with the heat vent clear underneath. Finished with a hand-rubbed oil that keeps the grain readable.
The result
A bench that looks impossible until you sit on it.
